How we check information

Buying a first home involves changing rules and unfamiliar costs. This is how facts, examples and unknowns are kept separate.

Last updated · England

Start with the original information

Government and tax-authority pages support scheme and tax rules. Original lender pages support product conditions. MoneyHelper and specialist sources support general preparation, costs and purchase steps.

Sources and check dates appear on the pages. A check date records a review at that point; it does not promise continuous monitoring or prove that a lender will accept your application.

An announcement is different from an open scheme

The Your First Home scheme is labelled as announced, with final details pending. A proposed figure, newspaper prediction and published application rule are different kinds of evidence.

Unknown amounts stay unknown. They are not converted into a zero charge or inserted into the planning calculations.

Examples show the arithmetic

A £180,000 home in an example is not a property listing or an affordability result. A £9,000 deposit is 5% of that price; it does not cover every other buying cost or establish access to a mortgage.

Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) is the property-purchase tax used for this England-only site.

Who is behind it, and the commercial purpose

This independent site was developed for Rob Davies, a mortgage broker at Lynton Mortgages. Read about Rob.

Rob may gain future clients when visitors choose to contact him. You can use the education and take your own plan to any broker or lender. The site does not automatically send your financial answers to Rob.

Named lender examples are a selection, not an exhaustive comparison or a claim that they are best for you. No active panel of other broker partners is asserted.

Updates and corrections

If an original rule changes, the explanation, examples, source date and matching FAQ should be reviewed together before publication. No automatic Budget or lender updates are running.

To flag a possible error, use the contact route to Rob and identify the page and original source. Response times and corrections are not guaranteed by an automated service.

What still needs review before public launch

This is a private preview. Final legal-operator details, approved regulatory disclosures, the connected domain and the email-consent setup remain outstanding. This page does not claim regulatory approval or independent buyer-testing certification.

Questions you might be asking

Is Buy My First Home a government website?

No. It is an independent first-time-buyer information site developed for Rob Davies, a mortgage broker at Lynton Mortgages. Original government, lender and MoneyHelper sources are linked.

Can I read everything without joining an email list?

Yes. Education and the planning tool do not depend on newsletter consent. The main tool is still being checked before its wider release.

Does the site recommend a mortgage for me?

No. Examples and tools are educational illustrations, and selected lender examples are not a complete market comparison. A lender or broker must consider your circumstances before an individual recommendation or lending decision.
