Put your rent record to work

Some specialist mortgages consider a proven rental history, with little or no deposit.

Last updated

Skipton’s Track Record is one example of a mortgage (a loan secured on your home) for eligible renters with no deposit or a deposit below 5%.

Published headline conditions

  • Applicants aged 21 or over, with no UK home owned in the last three years.
  • At least 12 consecutive months of rent paid within the last 18 months, with suitable evidence.
  • All credit payments maintained in the last six months.
  • Maximum borrowing £600,000. New-build houses can be considered; new-build flats are excluded.

The lender still checks affordability (whether the borrowing and ongoing costs fit your circumstances), credit and the property.

Little or no deposit can mean greater negative-equity risk if prices fall. You still need buying costs and a comfortable monthly budget. This is an example to investigate, not a recommendation.
